For those who keep track of Namesake through this account, you’re probably aware that it’s been the target of DDoS attacks for the past few days.

Because of this, I have started an RSS feed for the comic through Dreamwidth that directly pulls from the RSS feed with the main site. Those of you who have Dreamwidth accounts will be able to add this to your reading list.

I have also started a syndicated feed here on LiveJournal as well that updates automatically: namesakefeed. As such, I will no longer be posting comic updates to this journal. Like with other feeds, you can post comments, etc.

That being said, I do strongly urge any of our readers with LiveJournal accounts to back up when you can. Dreamwidth is an excellent alternative and has an importer that will bring in all of your icons, profile, custom groups, entries and comments, but does require an invite code or paid account. I do have a few invite codes I can give out.

The cover for chapter 4 has been posted.

As mentioned in the last blog update, I visited Isa in Montreal this past weekend where we discussed a good chunk of Namesake and outlined some things for the future.

The big change you’ll see starting next week is how the final page is produced. The original production of the comic pages involved my writing a script, Isa producing sketches from the script with dialogue in place adding her own ideas. I’d approve the and additional dialogue changes if needed. Isa then did the final inking/coloring, and she would also lay in the text. I’d look at the final page and send corrections.

Starting with next Tuesday’s comic, I will be laying in the final text. The result for you guys is that the text will be slightly larger as I write to accommodate the bubbles and a bit more natural sounding. We hope that it will alleviate some of the concerns we’ve been seeing from the initial reviews of the comic.

The second major thing discussed was a store for Namesake. We’re still not sure when this will be up and running, as Isa is completing a comic for a print run in time for the Toronto Comic Arts Festival. But, as those who follow my Twitter feed know, we have some pretty neat ideas for a store and would love to get input on what you would like to see. On the drawing board are prints, bookmarks, lapel pins and … tea. Tea? Yes, we have excellent plans regarding tea.

Finally, both Isa and I have had Tumblr accounts for a couple months now. Should you wish to follow:

Since I was bad and didn't update the LJs the past couple days ...

Comic for 2/22

Comic for 2/24

Just in case I am not around tomorrow night -- sleeping ahead of my long drive to Montreal to visit secondlina and further orchestrate our evil plans to take over the world -- the comic for 2/26 will auto-update at the normal time.
